Ingredients & Directions to make Steamed Beets
One bunch of beets, cut off greens, and wash beets leaving skins on
- If using a steamer on the stove you can place different size beets in all together
- Steam for ~40 minutes; the smaller they are, the faster they cook
- Remove once you can stick a fork through the beet
- If using an Instant pot, steam similar sizes together
- large beets ~16 minutes
- small beets ~10 minutes
Once the beets are cooked place in an ice bath to cool or place under running cool water, gently peel the skin off with your hands/side of thumb
Bringing it to the plate
Beets will store in the fridge for up to one week. They are great cold with balsamic vinegar and feta cheese or mixed with a salad.
